We believe that true style is found in the details, in the subtle interplay between the old and the new. At Lady Elgin, we invite you to explore the beauty of objects, to mix and match pieces, and to create a home that tells your story. Whether you are a seasoned collector or just beginning your journey into the world of antiques, we aim to inspire you to create a home that is not only stylish but also rich in meaning, artistry, and history.

Our Founder

After buying our first house, we lived in it empty for months - years really.

I wanted a home with soul. I wanted shelves filled with objects that were quirky, one of a kind, that sparked imagination, worn with love, and imperfect with patina. I wanted to live alongside objects with soul.

What began as a simple quest to fill empty spaces around my home unleashed a lifelong passion for collecting unique pieces with history and character. Inspired by the stories and craftsmanship of antique and handmade objects, Lady Elgin was born out of a desire to share these treasures with others. I hope that Lady Elgin offers a source of discovery and creativity, inviting you to find joy and inspiration in the timeless beauty and rich history of each piece we curate.

Lady Elgin

The name, Lady Elgin, is a nod to our founder's upbringing on the shores of Lake Michigan. The PS Lady Elgin was an elegantly appointed steamer ship that sank off the coast of Illinois in 1860 after colliding with a schooner amidst heavy wind and rain. The story of the Lady Elgin, shrouded in local politics, US history, and superstition, is one of the lake's most tragic maritime disasters.
